Non-surgical management of non-melanoma skin cancers

The incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) increases as we age, with almost half of the new cases in the UK occurring in those aged 75 and over. It is essential to be able to offer both surgical and non-surgical management options for these conditions, particularly with an ageing population, the aim may often be palliative rather than curative.This article reviews the non-surgical options for NMSCs, discussing treatment options including topical treatments and photodynamic therapy,and presenting evidence for the efficacy of each therapy.
