Fifty years on – the curious, curved bacteria that causes peptic ulcers

Earlier this year I reached the landmark of fifty years since I qualified as a doctor. Westminster Hospital, where I trained, no longer exists. It survived two direct hits from the German bombs during the Blitz but couldn’t escape the clutches of NHS accountants who couldn’t tell the difference between cost and value.
