There are a multitude of bedside tests used in the investigation of dermatological conditions. This article provides a concise summary of the common bedside tests used in dermatology within primary and secondary care, including dermoscopy, Wood’s lamp, allergy testing, investigating for infection and more invasive procedures. For each test, the indications and methodology are outlined, in addition to a few key take home points.
